We thought about doing a "post" to present the city of Fundão to our followers, which is one of Inovaprime's latest ventures. For our international customers and partners, Fundão is an unknown city and, therefore, we wanted to show you what it represents and why we invested in such location.
Fundão is a portuguese inner city, which is part of Castelo Branco county. It has 8750 inhabitants and this number has been decreasing throughout the years, which is in accordance with the trends from the other regions in the interior of Portugal. To be more precise about this reduction, in the 60's Fundão had 47500 inhabitants, which represents almost 40 thousand more citizens than today.
This city is an important centre for commerce, services and industry. The county is composed of fertile areas, namely Grande Vale da Cova da Beira, in which huge productions of cherries, sour cherries, peaches, olive oil and wine are made. There is also Gold/Silver extraction and mineral water from Fundão is one of the most sold in Portugal.
Some interesting locations in Fundão are: Aldeia histórica de Castelo Novo, Palácio do Picadeiro, Biblioteca Eugénio de Andrade, Centro Dinamizador das Aldeias de Xisto, Praia Fluvial de Janeiro de Cima.
